TOK Essay

Conclusion

As presented through the Areas of Knowledge mentioned above, as well as their corresponding questions, there is strong evidence to support the initial question, stating that areas of knowledge are most useful in combination with each other. As seen in the second Area of Knowledge, a clear connection between the use of mathematics and its application to other subjects has been made. This way, it is easier and more effective to understand both subjects, and to apply them in other situations. Likewise, as presented in the first Area of Knowledge, mathematics is clearly used in the methodology that is used in the Natural Sciences. As seen in the No-hair theorem, Einstein’s theory of relativity is used. This creates a straightforward connection between Natural Sciences, like astrophysics, and Mathematics. In the final analysis, I would say that when areas of knowledge are combined, their understandment increases to a large extent, as we make connections in our brains that relate both topics. Finally, the proposed title was answered by exploring the knowledge questions, as well as the AoKs that consist of concrete situations, that ultimately sum up the argument of the essay.

Skill - Inquirers

The skill that I managed to develop the most through my final TOK essay was the inquirers' one, as I became very curious and eager to learn about new topics. A very important aspect of my essay was about black holes, and Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Both of these concepts are new to me, as I have never learned them before. Nonetheless, I became really interested in them, and I had to teach these topics to myself in order to really understand them and being able to apply them to my essay. This skill was actually very fun to acquire, because now I know that if something interests me, I can learn about it by myself, and then share it with others.

REFLECTION

This evidence can help me in the future because it is one of my best-written essays, and I believe that it would stand out in any portfolio. It demonstrates many skills, like communication, creativity, knowledge, understanding, critical analysis, among others. Likewise, it prepared me for essays that I will have to complete in the future, like in college or in any job. I can confidently say that this is one of my proudest pieces of work, and I think that it stands out from all of the other essays that I have done.

The biggest challenge that I faced when completing this piece of work was definitely understanding the concepts about black holes and the physics behind it. It is a topic that involves a lot of mathematical knowledge, which I usually find challenging and difficult. However, after completing my essay, I can proudly say that I managed to understand the No-hair theorem, and it became a topic that now interests me and amazes me a lot.
